Stitched Journal Workshop In-Person

Join artist Lisa Hersey of Antler Editions for an evening of artful bookbinding. In this 1.5 hour workshop you will create a pamphlet stitch journal with a pocket in the back. This is a beginner friendly class, and no prior bookbinding skills are necessary. Attendees will create a book together, and then will create one more on their own. Students will build confidence by working on their second books with minimal guidance from the instructor, which will help guide you to creating at home on your own time. Students are able to recreate this binding at home with materials likely already on hand. Students can choose cover color, thread, and pages to create their own custom journals.

Lisa is a graduate of Montserrat College of Art and has over ten years of bookbinding experience. She has worked with many well-known book binders in the Pioneer Valley which has helped her to hone her skills. She loves sharing bookbinding as a handheld art form with a tactile connection. Lisa works out of her studio in Easthampton, MA.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Agawam Local Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
