Join author and former Massachusetts State Senator, Linda Melconian, as she discusses her newest book Ella Grasso: The First of the Firsts. Hear first-hand stories of the author's connection to Ella Grasso, the first female state governor elected on her own, and learn of the hurdles Grasso overcame to serve as the governor of Connecticut. Senator Melconian cites Ella Grasso as a personal mentor and credits her with encouraging her pursuit of a political career, ultimately resulting in holding the role of the first female senate majority leader in the state. In a time of strained political divide, this book presents a beloved politician's success story and inspiring legacy. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at this event for $20 each, and the author is donating proceeds of the book back to the library.
